PDF sewing patterns
Print the right size, every time.
Printing errors usually come from paper size, scale or page assembly. Use the exact format named on the product page and check the scale before printing the complete pattern.
Key facts
- Always print at 100% scale. Fit-to-page and shrink-to-fit silently resize the pattern.
- Print one test page first. Check the scale square or guide marks before committing paper and ink.
- Use the format on the product page. The catalog does not offer the same formats for every pattern.
- A0 needs a copy shop. It is larger than a home printer can handle.
- Never scale paper. If a page looks wrong, return to the original PDF.
A0 vs A4 vs US Letter compared
| Format | Paper size | Printer | Assembly | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm (8.3 × 11.7 in) | Most home printers | Usually tiles across 2–4 sheets | Small and medium pieces you print often |
| US Letter | 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm) | Most North American home printers | Usually tiles across 2–4 sheets | Same as A4 but for Letter paper |
| A0 | 841 × 1189 mm (33.1 × 46.8 in) | Copy shop or large-format printer | Full pieces print without tiling | Full-length garments and complex layouts |
Before you press print
- Open the correct PDF file on a desktop or laptop.
- Select the exact paper size listed for the product.
- Set the scale to 100% unless the file says otherwise.
- Disable fit-to-page or shrink-to-fit options.
- Print one test page and check the scale or guide marks.
Where to print A0 patterns
A copy shop, print bureau or office-supply print desk can scale an A0 file for you. Send the PDF as-is, ask for actual size / 100%, and collect it rolled or folded along the trim lines. Some couriers and libraries offer large-format printing, which can be cheaper than a commercial print shop.
How long printing takes
A tiled A4 or Letter pattern is roughly 6 to 12 pages, so allow 5 to 10 minutes including assembly. A full-size A0 print takes about 2 minutes at the shop plus drying time. Tiling and taping a large layout usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.
Choosing a format
A4 and US Letter are smaller home-printer options. A0 is a larger or tiled format for a copy shop. The current catalog does not offer the same formats for every product, so the product page is the source of truth.
Assembling pages
Trim only where the file indicates, arrange pages in the shown order and match the joining marks. If the layout looks wrong, return to the original PDF rather than stretching or scaling the paper.

Should I print a sewing pattern at 100%?
Yes. Print at 100% scale (no fit-to-page), check the test square, and follow the assembly instructions included with each pattern.
